The meeting called to order on March 30, 2007 by Lake Tackett at 8:52 a.m.
The minutes of the October 27, 2006 business meeting were included in the conference packets. Buck moved and Brian seconded to accept the minutes. The motion passed.
A current ledger was included in the conference packets. Jan moved and Brian seconded to accept the report. The motion passed.
Please contact Nina Morton-AES if interested in volunteering for future awareness activities. Nina received $1000 commitments from HEPC & Independent Council for Colleges, which is what they sponsored last year. AES picked up the rest of expense. Radio ads on the sports network were done. The Saturday event was a success at the Cultural Center. She has had several volunteers for next year from across the state-Fairmont, Northern WV that had never volunteered before. Cost to association should only run about $500.
Sandra discussed her reports that were provided in the conference packets and encouraged everyone to review them.
SCHOOL COUNSELOR WORKSHOPS:
The following have volunteered to conduct a workshop this fall: Sandra Richmond-Mountain State University; Robert "Buck" Eagle-Eastern Community & Technical College; Jan Ruge-University of Charleston; Lake Tackett-Huntington Junior College; Kaye Widney-West Virginia University; Brian Weingart-Alderson Broaddus College
James will be contacting other schools to volunteer.

An update regarding current state and federal issues was included in the conference packets.
Teresa Weimer of WVU will be doing the next training.
Jan announced the following election results:
President Elect-Elect: Robert "Buck" Eagle
Secretary: James Buchanan
Treasurer: Sharon Howard
Please notify Lake if you know of anyone that has surpassed 20, 25, and 30 years of service.
Pat said that the sponsors want to participate more in interest sessions.
All the amendments to the constitution and by-laws passed. Please send any archival information to Kaye Widney at WVU.
POLICIES & PROCEDURES:
They are on the website and please review for any corrections/deletions. Angie Jones will not be able to continue as committee chair. Candi Frazier will replace her.
LONG RANGE PLANNING:
The fall 2007 conference will be held at Snowshoe Mountain Ski Resort October 23-26, 2007. Members will be able to choose from a variety of room rates, from $108 to $186. Cass Railroad will be an option for Thursday night.
Lake Tackett and Susanne Duranti will be in charge of Site and JoAnn Ross and Robert "Buck" Eagle will be responsible for Program. Please send any session ideas to either of them.
Jan Ruge said that they discussed the same issues that the public sector discussed and agreed that a statement from the association should be available in case of media requests.
Kathy Fair said we had four new members attend this conference and they had exchanged contact information for possible questions. She said there were no major concerns. They would like to see a session on Pell Grant at a future conference.
Pat said that the lender dinner was a great success.
Lake suggested that there be one representative from each sector on future conference program committees. She also reminded everyone to fill out the evaluation forms in their packets.
